Visitation to the Brethren and Wedding Invitation by the brethren at Jolo, Roxas, Palawan..!

This last June 27/28/2009 we are invited by brother Victor Bacaltos of Jolo Roxas, Palawan to attend the wedding of his daughter ( sister Mary Vic Bacaltos). Our fellow gospel preachers from Southern part of Palawan ( bro. Jonathan Sapitula, Emmanuel Sapitula, Sammy Cabansa, Eddie Favila, Judson Montimor, Edward Belando and Reuben Tiburan) had waked up early morning around 3. A.M. to prepare themselves in a long journey to Jolo Roxas, Palawan. Around 10 A.M., they arrived to my home here in the city, then after a few minutes of rest, we continue our travel towards Northern palawan. After almost 3 hours of travel we all safely arrived at Jolo and thanks to the Lord for our safe travel. At the Village of Jolo we are happy to see and greet our brethren, the congregation on this place is few in numbers, but they continue to strive more for the Lord and remain to be faithful (Rev.2:10) unto death. We had also the opportunity to visit our brethren at Bayugon congregation about 12 kilometers away from the Village of Jolo. We spent our night at Bayugon and had a wonderful time to talk with the brethren there, encouraging them to be "steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for asmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord" -( ICorinthians 15:58). - In Christian love - Dario D. "..THY WORD IS TRUTH.."

FOLLOWING THE RIGHT BOOK

A Missionary once presented a Bible to a young Indian, who possessed a fair knowledge of the English language, and exhorted him to read it and OBEY ITS COMMANDMENTS. The Book was received and read as requested. Some time afterward the Indian met the preacher, and said to him" " I want you to go with me to the river. I want to be baptized." " I can baptize you without going to the river", said the preacher. "Where?" inquired the red man. "Here" replied the preacher. Said the Indian in a tone of surprise" " I don't see how you can baptize me here, where there is no water" " We can have the water brought for the purpose," responded the preacher. But the young Indian man was perplexed: he could not understand how they were to baptize him after the water was brought. The Preacher then explained to him that they could baptize him "by pouring a little water on his forehead." Is that baptism?'' "Yes", said the preacher. Not yet quite satisfied, the young Indian man replied: " well, if that is baptism, you have given me the wrong book".
His idea seemed to be that each denomination had a Bible of its own, and that the minister had, through mistake, given him one that represented baptism to be immersion. The impression that baptism is immersion was made upon his mind by reading the Bible; but if pouring (or sprinkling) is baptism, it must be learned from some other book: that is, the same book cannot teach both pouring and immersion to be baptism. Why not? Because there is such a difference between pouring and immersion that if the one is taught to be baptism, the other one cannot be. ( The Sword of the Spirit Bulletin - 03/31/09)

"..THY WORDS IS TRUTH.."

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
By: Dario D. Belviz

We read several testimony from so many religious leader predicted the date of Christ second coming, unfortunately all of them had failed to prove their prediction. But one thing is undeniable and no one can contest this fact; the Christ second coming is CERTAIN! But we never know when it will happen, no exact time and date revealed by the scriptures, but we are always reminded by the scriptures “ Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come” – Matthew 24:42

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST IS CERTAIN: It is unquestionably established by the testimony of the following; (1) ANGEL“which also said, ye men of Galilee’ why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven “- Acts 1:11 (2) APOSTLE PAUL“ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first” – I Thess. 4:16 (3) APOSTLE JOHN “ Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” – I John 3:2 (4) JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF “ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” – John 14:1-4. These are all the reliable testimony from the angel of the Lord, from the Apostles, and above all from the Lord Jesus Christ, He promised that He will “COME AGAIN” we can hold firmly this promised without any hesitation. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise” – 2 Peter 3:9

THE TIME IS UNKNOWN: When will Jesus come? No one knows..! God did not revealed concerning the exact day and hour “The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever...” (Deuteronomy 29:29). Jesus Christ said: “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the son, but the Father” (Mark 13:32). The scriptures teaches that Christ coming will be sudden “...the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night” ( IThess. 5:2). But sadly, despite of this truth that NO ONE KNOWS the exact date and hour of Christ second coming, still many had attempts and tried as date-setters for Christ second coming. But they are all wrong and become a deceiver of truth. Let the records speaks who are they;

a) WILLIAM MILLER – Founder of Adventist Movement, he Predicted that Christ Second coming would came in October 1843 but it was not so, again he reason out that he was miscalculated and predicted again that Christ come again in 1844. (D.M. Canright, Seventh day Aventism Renounced – Reprint of 14th edition, Nashville: B.C. Good Pasture N.D. Pages 68-80)

b) CHARLES T. RUSSEL – Founder of the religious group Known as “Jehovah Witnesses”: He said the Lord came in 1874 ( Charles Russel, studies in the Scripture, series III, Thy Kingdom come, NY: International Bible Student Ass. 1899 Pages: 124, 127,133).
Now, it is clearly that the prediction of these religious leaders had failed and never fulfilled. They “spoke presumptuously” “prophesy lies” “they prophesy unto you a false vision”. God said “ When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shall not be afraid of him” ( Deut. 18:22 ; Jer.14:14).

HIS COMING WILL BE VISIBLE: Some teaches that Christ Second coming is “secret” but the scripture teaches us that His coming will be visible “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him,” (Rev. 1:7) “ For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” “ And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumphet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matt.24:27,31).

WHEN JESUS COME: The earth will be burned up (2 Peter 3:7-10), the dead shall be raised incorruptible (John 5:28-29, I Cor.15:22, 24, 52; 15:40), “the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books” (Rev. 20:11-12; Rome 14:10-12; IICor. 5:10).

CONCLUSION: Friends let us heed the solemn warning from the Scriptures “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh” (Matt. 24:44) “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares” – Luke 21:34

PUTTING-UP THE SIGN BOARD..!

Our brothers in the church jointly working together in putting-up the church sign board at the main street going to our place of worship here in the city of Puerto Princesa. Apostle Paul said – “From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love” (Eph. 4:16).

Our Schedule of services here in the city of Puerto Princesa. We extend a sincere welcome to all of our visitors; it is an honor to have you in our services.

Finally, the church sign board here in the city was already installed at the main street going to our meeting place, this would be beneficial to all the visiting brethren coming from different places in Palawan who would want to attend the church services.

Our brothers jointly working to connect the sign board to the main post made of galvanized Pipe.

Brother Marlo Agbisit firmly holding the sign board – He is presently working at Bureau of Fire Protection as Fire chief Investigator in the Province of Palawan, he and his family is a faithful member of the Lord church here in the city of Puerto Princesa.

WHO IS THE LAST PROPHET?
by: Dario D. Belviz

The Qur’an of Islam said “…No Prophet will come after him. Allah the exalted says: Muhammad is not the father of any man among you, but he is the messenger of Allah, the last of the Prophets. And Allah is Ever All Aware of everything”. ( Qur’an 33:40) – (The Foundation – Islamic Studies, call and guidance of the Philippines – Page: 37).
For the Muslim believers they believed that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, the LAST (emphasized mine: D.D.B.) of the Prophets. But Friends, if we will only be honest to search the scriptures (John 5:39; 2Tim. 3:15-17) we could find the true Saviour & Prophet and not be deceived by so many false Prophets (Matthew 24:24).
God promised to raise up a prophet “I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in his mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him, And It shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him” (Deut. 18:18-19). This passage was speaking only of Christ not to any person pretending to be the last Prophet. Peter quoted it in Acts 3:22-23 and applied it to Jesus Christ. Stephen also quoted this same passage in the sermon which cost him his life (Acts 7:37).
The New Testament always speaks of Jesus Christ as “The Prophet”. It was in the Galilee that Jesus Christ Fed the 5,000.00 people with “five barley loaves and two small fish” (John 6:1-14). When the people had been fed and there was still bread to spare, they said, “This is truly the Prophet, who is come into the world” (John 6:14).
Jesus is God’s final Spokesman – the final - The last Prophet - The Hebrew writer reminds us of how “God, who at various times and in different ways spoke in time, past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoke to us by His son …” (Heb. 1:1-2).
God said “whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him” (Deut. 18:19).
The Hebrew writer mentions the consequences of neglecting the message of Christ – the final Prophet. (Hebrew 2:1-4).

"..THY WORD IS TRUTH.."

BAD COMPANY

The Story is told of two parrots who lived near each other. The one was accustomed to singing Hymns while the other was addicted to swearing. The owner of the latter obtained permission for it to associate with the former in the hope that its bad habit would be corrected. Instead the opposite happened as both learned to swear.
This little story reminds us of a passage in ( I Cor.13:33) which sys, " Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits". A person may feel like he can associate with wicked people and not be hurt. He may think that he can be a good influence on the wicked person. Perhaps he can, but influence can go in two directions, and there is a great danger of the wicked person influencing the good person. If a person thinks otherwise, he is " Deceived". Young people, as well as older people, need to pick their friends carefully. Remember, " Evil company corrupts good habits."

"..THY WORD IS TRUTH.."

A RESOUNDING SERMON

Halfway through the preacher's sermon, a woman seated in the front pew began snoring. The Preacher motioned to the woman's 6- years old daughter, hoping the little girl would wake her mother up. But the girl stayed perfectly still. When the woman's snoring grew even louder, the Preacher-speaking in a hushed voice-asked the girl to rouse her mother. To which the girl replied, " YOU WAKE HER UP. YOU'RE THE ONE WHO PUT HER TO SLEEP" ( quote from an unknown source).

THE FATAL ACCIDENT
by: Dario D. Belviz

While in our travel at Northern Palawan last February 10th to 14th 2009, we are surprised to see the wreck passenger Jeepney at zigzag road of Northern Palawan. According to some people in the area this passenger jeepney was crash one week ago, it was loaded of more than 50 sacks of rice and not less than 20 passengers. Unfortunately, three people were died, including the driver, and the conductor. Brethren and friends, we are always reminded of the lessons we can take from this tragedy;

DEATH COMES TO US ALL: Death is described by the scriptures as a house to which man is brought (Job 30:23). The wise man said “For the living know that they shall die” (Ecclesiastes 9:5). The Hebrew Told: “and it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment “(Hebrew 9:27). The Psalmist informed” “ what man is that liveth, and shall not see death” (Psalm 89:48). Again, the wise man emphasized “there is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death...” (Ecclesiastes 8:8). So, Nobody can escaped in the day of death, all ages die, infants, young school children, teenagers, early 20’s, the middle aged, the older, whether rich or poor, wise or foolish.(Eccl.9:1-2).

WE NEVER KNOW WHAT A DAY MAY BRING FORTH: We never know that before the day the death of those passengers, the driver and the conductor, maybe they were happy to talk with their wife, and children. These love ones, had no idea that it is the last time that they could talk. They would never see them again..!. The Proverb says “ Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not a day may bring forth” ( Proverb 27:1). James said it this way, “whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow” (James 4:14). So, we all need to live everyday as if it were the last..!

LIFE IS SHORT: The Psalmist said “Remember how short my time is..!(Psalm 89:47), “ a handbreadth”(Psalm 39:5), “a step”(I Sam.20:3), “ a flower that is cut down” (Job 14:1-2), “ of few days”(Job 14:1), as “a grass’(Psalm 103:15, “ as a shadow”(Job14:2), “ a vapor” ( Jas.4:14), “ a moment”(I Cor.4:17). These are the Lord’s description of the brevity of life. So, if our life is really short and frail, we need to value our time “.. Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12) a wise man will number his days, realizing that they will come to an end. In numbering our days, we need to learn to make our days count. We need to redeem the time (Eph.5:16).

CONCLUSION: Life is a precious gift – do not neglect it (Eccl.3:12-13, 22; 11:9-12:1, 13-14). God graciously gives us time and opportunity to learn and obey him to avoid eternal death for our sins (Rome 3:23; 6:23; 2:3-4; 2 Pet.3:9). In view of death, my friends, today is the day you should repent of every sin and obey Jesus Christ.( Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16).

“I WILL BUILD MY CHURCH” – NOT MY CHURCHES!
by: Dario D. Belviz

JESUS SAID: “And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”
(Matthew 16:18). My friends what can we learn from this clear statement of Jesus? Join me open your Bible and “let us plead together”Isaiah 43:26. When Christ said “I will build my church” it means that;

1.) The church had not yet built when Jesus declared these words: I heard one time from the mouth of renowned Tele-evangelist here in the Philippines that according to him, the church mentioned by Jesus Christ in Matthew 16:18 had already established many years ago, he proved it by using Acts 7:38. If this kind of explanation is true, then, Jesus Christ would not have said “I will build my church” rather, he would say, “I have already built my church”. Friends, the church were not established prior to the declaration of Christ promise. We should be aware “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirit whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world”I John 4:1.

2.) Jesus was to be the Builder of the church: The church was not established by Moses or other Patriarchs; it was not also built by Joseph Smith, Alexander Campbell or any other man who called themselves as God’s Messenger in the last days. It is very clear from the light of the scriptures that only Jesus Christ is the Builder, Author, great architect, the foundation and finisher of the church. (I Corinthians 3:10-11).

3.) The church belongs only to Christ: Jesus alone own the church, NOT MAN. Jesus Christ purchased it with His own blood – Acts 20:28 “ Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flocks over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood”. From this pin of Apostle Paul, we can learn that Christ did not purchase the church until he shed his own blood, or the church was not established before his death at the cross. Jesus Christ called it, “my church” (singular) not “my churches” (plural). The Scriptures also teaches us that there is only “ONE BODY” or “ONE CHURCH” (Eph. 4:4; Col.1:18, 24). If the claims of Denominational teachers that “ALL CHURCHES” throughout the world are owns by Christ was correct, then, Jesus Christ did not tell us the truth when He said “I will build my church”. My dear friend’s only “ONE CHURCH” is belong to Christ. It is under His Authority since He is the head of the body – the church (Matthew 28:18; Col.1:18, 24).

Now my dear friend’s, we know that Jesus Christ built His own church and established His Kingdom (Acts 2:47; 5:11; Col.1:13, 18, Revelation 5:9-10; Acts 20:28). We cannot be right before Jesus if we are not in His body – the church (I Peter 2:5-9). Christ is the Savior of the body – the church (Eph.5:23; Col.1:18, 24). Where are you now my friends, are you a member of the Lord’s Body – the church? If not, I invite you to search the scriptures (John 5:39; 2 Tim.3:15-17) hear the word (Rome 10:17) Believe (Hebrew 11:6) Repent (Acts 17:30) Confess (Rome 10:9-10) be Baptized (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38; I Peter 3:21) and the Lord added you to the church “Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” – Acts 2:47.
